TIGER Woods' long-suffering former wife has broken her lengthy silence over the golf star's string of extra-marital affairs.

In her first interview since the scandal broke, Elin Nordegren declared: "I've been through hell."

The couple quietly ended their marriage at a short court hearing in Florida earlier this week. During the proceedings Elin, 30, resisted moves by her ex-husband's legal team to prevent her from speaking out — costing her millions as part of their divorce settlement.

Talking for the first time to People magazine, she said: "I have been through the stages of disbelief and shock, to anger and ultimately grief over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children." The former nanny and model added: "I also feel stronger than I ever have. I have confidence in my beliefs, my decisions and myself."
The couple ended their six-year marriage on Monday and will share custody of daughter Sam, three, and 18-month-old son Charlie.

Elin gave a series of interviews to the mag lasting more than 19 hours at her rented home in Windermere, Florida, following the divorce.
She has kept a dignified silence ever since the affairs became public — even as numerous mistresses came forward to talk about their sex lives with the world's richest sportsman.
She claimed she had no idea what was going on and said she was "blindsided" and "embarrassed" by the revelations which left her in "absolute shock and disbelief".

She revealed: "I never suspected, not a one. "For the last three years, when all this was going on, I was home a lot more with pregnancies, then the children and my school."
Elin said she wanted to set the record straight.
She added: "I felt stupid as more things were revealed. How could I not have known anything? The word 'betrayal' isn't strong enough.
"I felt embarrassed for having been so deceived. I felt betrayed by many people around me.


"Initially, I thought we had a chance, and we tried really hard."
But the couple's reunion ultimately failed and she decided it would be better to split up, despite wanting the children to have a happy family life.
She said: "I am now going to do my very best to show them that alone and happy is better than being in a relationship where there is no trust."
Despite the traumatic betrayal she still wished Woods luck.
She added: "I know he is going to go down as the best golfer that ever lived, and rightfully so. I feel privileged to have witnessed a part of his golfing career."
