Julia fails to keep the faith

JULIA ROBERTS may have been brought up as a good Catholic girl but it seems she's upset the church with her latest movie.

Catholic leaders have given Eat, Pray, Love a black mark after accusing it of ignoring the faith.
Officials at the Catholic News Service in Washington are angry that the character she plays in the film, based on ELIZABETH GILBERT'S bestselling memoirs, visits numerous eateries in Rome while giving the Basilicas a miss.
In a scathing review they wrote: "Though she seemingly hits every restaurant in town, she gives the churches a pass, the implication being that she knows better than to look to Catholicism for insight."
The movie was given an L classification, meaning 'limited adult audience', explaining that it contains "problematic content many adults would find troubling."

The reviewer also complained that during the 'pray' section she visits a religious guru in "the unhealthy atmosphere of semi-idolatrous worship."
The Pretty Woman star hasn't helped matters by declaring she had converted to Hinduism after chatting to an ashram while making the film in India.
She told Elle magazine, "I'm definitely a practising Hindu."
