World crown ... Rooney hungrily eyes Cu
ENGLAND hero WAYNE ROONEY took a peek at the World Cup yesterday - and admitted it felt "weird" to be near the trophy he dreams of lifting in triumph soon.
With the Manchester United star in the form of his life, the whole nation believes England can bring the trophy home from South Africa.
But when he came face-to-face with the prize, Wayne, 24, had an understandable touch of the willies.

The last time England won was in 1966 - when World Cup Willie was our mascot - so he and the squad carry a heavy responsibility. He said: "It's a bit weird being that close.
"England will be going to South Africa well prepared.

"Hopefully we'll have a great tournament and have this (the trophy) back here come the end of July.
"You try not to think too much about the World Cup but it's always in the back of your mind.
