Wenger: It can be our title

ARSENAL roared back into the title race to leave boss Arsene Wenger crowing: Why not win it?

The Gunners' victory over Liverpool cut the gap on leaders Chelsea to six points.

Wenger added: "It is a fantastic night for the club. Why not win the title?

"I said we'd fight until the last minute of the season, and we showed that tonight."

Abou Diaby's header ensured Arsenal saw off one of their main rivals.

It also gave them a huge morale boost after losing at Chelsea on Sunday and to Manchester United the previous week.

Chelsea's defeat at Everton and second-placed United's draw with Aston Villa capped the night.

Wenger added: "Nobody realises how hard it is to play United, Chelsea and Liverpool on the trot with no time to recover.

"So to come back from Sunday's disappointment to get back to six points is great for us."

United, Chelsea and Liverpool still have to face each other - while Arsenal's next SEVEN fixtures all look winnable.

Wenger added: "Let's be consistent and try to win our next game.

"We believe in our chances. It is open for everybody."

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez blamed referee Howard Webb for the defeat, accusing him of failing to award a penalty when Cesc Fabregas handled a Steven Gerrard free-kick.

TV replays clearly showed the Arsenal skipper was outside the box when he blocked Gerrard's shot in injury time.

But Benitez still claimed: "It is a handball and has to be a penalty.

"I don't know why he didn't give it."
