Hit ... Haiti single
THE Sun's Helping Haiti single was yesterday outselling the rest of the Top Ten by two to one.
And the track, a cover of REM's Everybody Hurts, is certain to be Number One on Sunday.
It has already shifted 300,000 copies and is the fastest-selling charity single of the century.
Stars including Robbie Williams, Cheryl Cole and Susan Boyle feature on the ballad, the brainchild of TV mogul Simon Cowell and The Sun.
The cash it is making has already been used to save countless lives in the Haiti quake's aftermath.
Record label Syco has pledged at least £1 from every CD sold and 50p from every download will be split equally between the Disasters Emergency Committee and The Sun's Helping Haiti Appeal.
That is the minimum that will go to the charities - but it is expected to be much more.
Syco is donating all its net proceeds - and many stores have also promised not to profit from sales.
But there are some unavoidable costs in making and distributing the track.
DEC boss Brendan Gormley said: "The more copies we sell, the more money from each sale goes to the charities."
Half the proceeds will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee and half to The Sun's Helping Haiti Appeal. All monies for The Sun's Helping Haiti Appeal will be paid directly to a charitable fund set up for The Sun by the Charities Aid Foundation (registered charity number 268369), and all monies received by that fund will be paid to registered charities to help those affected by the earthquake in Haiti.
