MICHAEL OWEN slotted a dramatic injury-time winner to see Manchester United steal the local bragging rights at Old Trafford.
The England striker came off the bench to cap a classic encounter, after Craig Bellamy's second goal had looked to have stolen a point late on for City.
It was Wayne Rooney who opened the scoring in the second minute of the match, before Gareth Barry swept in his first goal for Mark Hughes' side.
Bellamy bagged a brace in a pulsating second half, after Darren Fletcher had twice given United the lead thanks to pinpoint crosses from Ryan Giggs.
And the veteran winger's vision then set up the winner deep into added time, with Owen coolly poking the ball past Shay Given in predatory fashion.
