1. Netty but nice in Chicago

This outfit is sheer lunacy - but the crowds at Chicago's Lollapalooza Festival simply loved it.
GaGa stage dived in the risque get-up and got several hundred fan fondles and even a belly lick for her trouble.

2. A bloody mess at the VMAs

Forget Kanye dissing Taylor Swift - the real highlight of the 2009 VMAs was a gory performance of Paparazzi by Lady GaGa.
Wearing a skimpy leotard and knee-high boots, the singer pierced a packet of fake blood under her breast which then oozed down her stomach and legs.
Dancers then tackled GG to the floor and daubed a blood-soaked cross across her chest. Controversial, moi?

3. Facing a backlash in Malta

Nobody nose better than Her Ladyship how to make an entrance.
Promoting an MTV special shot on the holiday isle of Malta in 2009, GaGa confounded reporters in a studded halter dress and black mask that covered her entire face save her snout.
She explained: "It's not just a mask, it's a contemporary art piece ... Right now, I'm having a very strong obsession mostly with clothing found in sex shops."

4. Raising the style steaks at the 2010 VMAs

It takes an offal lot of nerve to wear a dress made entirely of raw meat.
The Franc Fernandez creation was made from six pieces of sewn-together steak teamed with a matching meat bag and hat.
Animal rights fans expressed outrage and chat show host Elen De Generes gifted GaGa a lettuce leaf bikini suggesting she might like to wear that instead next time.

5. GaGa keeps the faith in concert

GaGa left fashion fans nun the wiser with this wacky stage costume for her Monster Ball tour.
Working a wimple and a see-through plastic dress, the star both wowed and appalled the audience at her Atlantic City show in February.
An unholy mess.

6. This Lady has controversy all taped up

Will somebody police tell this woman to put some clothes on!
Lady GG shocked with yet another cheeky little number made entirely from crime scene tape in her Telephone video.
The nine-minute promo - which featured GaGa dancing in prison and Beyonce using the F word - quickly became a web hit back in March 2010.

7. There's sun-thing about Gaga

Lady G looks a bit of all bright as a sun goddess at the launch of V61 hosted by V Magazine, Marc Jacobs and Belvedere Vodka.
The star wore a stunning but saucy see-through red lace body suit to the bash in New York in November 2009.

8. In a white state at the Brits

Another day, another barely-there lace number and bonkers headpiece from Gaga.
This time the star was letting it all hang out at the 2010 Brit Awards - where she won three gongs.
The star has explained her next-to-nude style thus: "My grandmother is basically blind, but she can make out the lighter parts, like my skin and hair.
"She says, 'I can see you, because you have no pants on.' So I`ll continue to wear no pants so that my grandma can see me."

9. The critics keep on gunning for GaGa

Nothing spells pop chart success quite like a pert bottom and semi-automatic weaponry.
Naysayers were quick to slate GaGa's July 2010 Rolling Stone cover for glamorising violence.
The singer was snapped wearing a thong and a gun-holstering S&M-style bra.

10. A bra-vellous mess on tour

As if raunchy nuns were not enough, Lady GaGa relived her disturbing blood-soaked VMA performance from 2009 with this far-from-subtle stage costume on the Monster Ball tour in February.
The look encompasses every shock element needed to make it vintage GaGa - fishnets, undies, bonkers hair and bullet wounds. Bra-vo!
