Posh vs Posher ... Who wins the style war between Kate Middleton and Victoria Beckham?

 

 

 

KATE Middleton has gone Beck to basics for her trousseau.

The royal bride-to-be has told fashion designer Victoria Beckham she wants to wear her evening dresses during her honeymoon.
Prince William's bride, 29, phoned Posh to say she loved her outfits after the pregnant mum of three sent a selection of her spring/summer collection.
Kate also asked the former Spice Girl, 36, for general advice on evening wear during the romantic break after her April 29 wedding.
But which of the British beauties has the best style sense overall?

Issa-n't she lovely! Kate wowed in salmon pink at the 2008 Boodles Boxing Ball, flaunting her enviably toned torso in a floor-length dress by one of her favourite designers, Issa.
Not quite so peachy in pink, Victoria made us all blush in this how-many-more-fittings-until-it's-ready number at a Victoria's Secret bash with her fellow Spice Girls in 2007.
Trendy, yes, but a wee bit bonkers too.

Cute clutch in tow and not a hair out of place, Kate Middleton looked im-mac-ulate in this Burberry trench coat at a public engagement in Belfast in February.
But if you want to lift a coat out of the trenches, all eyes should be on Posh.
Mrs B looks scintillatingly sexy - and yet casual too - with this nearly-nude look.

A style icon can live or die by her ability to pull off white jeans.
Thankfully, both Kate and Posh pull a blinder but the real style points go to Victoria who knows that a cropped pair teamed with heels with make her legs look even slimmer.

Prints charming

The sartorial equivalent of a punch to the face, Posh's Azzedine Alaia zebra-print dress drew gasps at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards.
By contrast, Kate's similar but subtler print dress - set off to perfection by a light summer tan and funky wedges - was a breath of fresh air just two months later.

Every woman worth her salt has a favourite pair of skinnies to tuck into knee-high boots.
Both women look effortless here but Kate's style nudges its way to victory as Posh suffers from baggy knee syndrome. Shame.

Feeling blue

Another day, another Boodles Boxing Ball for Kate to turn heads at.
We love this ultra-feminine BCBG halterneck style from 2006.
But for truly grabbing the headlines, our winner has to be Posh.
Blinding in a Roberto Cavalli gown at the Swarovski Fashion Rocks event in 2005, Mrs B is living proof that less (material) is more.

There's snow greater place to make a style statement than on the ski slopes.
Yet Kate would rather look the part as a sporty pro than show-pony it up like Posh.
Hence the neatly tailored but ordinary ski suit and goggles.
La Becks by comparison looks put together to within an inch of her life. From those cool-but-useless shades to the funky belt holding her ski trousers up, Posh breaks the cardinal style sin of trying too hard.

Kate's look here is just plane boring.
If you're going to wear a white tee and black jacket to the airport, at least have the decency to team it with a pair of barely-there denim shorts and an It bag. Mrs B's bright, breezy style is ready for lift-off.

Nothing shows off a winter tan quite like a cosy, white wool coat. Team it with black boots and you have monochrome magic.
But Kate has drawn a blanc with her icky shoulder bag and 40 deniers. Posh meanwhile saves the style from looking prissy by pairing it with jeans.

Weddy to celebrate

Treating the aisle like a catwalk is a big no-no for any wedding guest - yet shameless Victoria stole the show at the 2006 wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
Her curve-hugging dress and flamboyant black hat meant the bride barely got a look-in as the fashion press went wild for posey Posh.
Equally stylish yet far more subtle, Kate wore a winter coat by Libelula to her friend Louisa Stourton's big day back in January this year.
