TIME FOR A CHANGE ... Tiger Woods gets to grips with his new putter yesterday
TIGER WOODS has ditched the most valuable putter in the world - despite winning more than £60m with it in the past 11 years.
And he could also be tempted to dump caddie Steve Williams after the Kiwi put the knife into Woods over his "poor" putting.Woods goes into tomorrow's Open at St Andrews without a win to his name this season for the first time in his 13-year professional career.
He has decided to dispense with the Scotty Cameron putter he first used in 1999 and which has helped him to 82 titles and 13 Majors.
Woods will use a putter supplied by his main sponsor Nike, who are expecting a £50m jackpot in extra sales if the switch is successful.
The world No 1, who has already changed the ball he uses this month, said: "I've got a new putter where the ball comes off the face faster because I've always struggled on these slower greens."
Big-mouth caddie Williams said: "The one part of Tiger's game this year that has been very sub-standard is his putting. And the key to playing well at St Andrews is putting."
