Watch the ‘Just Wright’ Movie Special

I like to support Black film as much as the next sister, but I am selective. I won’t go see a movie just because the majority of the cast members are Black. Seriously, we’re in a recession. Who has money to waste on another Madea movie? You’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all; and it’s just as funny – or not – when it airs on TV.

However, if a movie seems like it might offer something a little different, be entertaining, have a pretty decent message, include some humor and a Black cast, then that might be worth my $10.50.

So, I fully plan to go see “Just Wright,” the new film starring rappers-turned-actors Queen Latifah and Common. It does seem a little “Brown Sugar” or “Love & Basketball” -ish, but this flick seems like it’s a bit more about a Black woman who’s really supporting and helping a brother be his best. Take out Common and Latifah, insert Barack and Michelle.

OK. That might be too much of a stretch, but I do plan to see the flick. If you’re still not convinced, tune in to “The Wright Zone” movie special Thursday at 7:30 PM/6:30C for more on the film, and check out the trailer here.
