BIG SPENDER ... Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson
THIS year's January transfer window will be remembered for bargain basement deals rather than the big-money bids of previous seasons.
Less than £30million was spent during the sales, compared to the £175m and £150m in the last two winter windows.
A huge £10m of this year's cash went on just one player — Fulham defender Chris Smalling who agreed to join Manchester United in the summer.
Many clubs chose to delve into the loan market and swoop for freebies rather than splash the cash.
We have put together our pick of the best moves — based on ability, impact and value for money — involving Premier League sides over the last month.
Check out who is on the list and let us know your thoughts on the January window on MySun below.

1. Robbie Keane (Tottenham to Celtic) Loan
They say "you save the best for last" and Bhoy did Tony Mowbray do that. Celtic's poor season was given a massive lift during the closing hours of the window.
Ability - 8/10
Impact - 10/10
Value for money - 9/10
TOTAL - 27/30

2. Victor Moses (Crystal Palace to Wigan) £2.5m
Massive potential for a bargain price. The Latics took advantage of Palace's financial problems to sign one of England's hottest prospects.
Ability - 7/10
Impact - 8/10
Value for money - 8/10
TOTAL - 25/30

3. Robinho (Manchester City to Santos) Loan
The British record signing has had a nightmare spell with City and his return to first club Santos should revitalise his career. A good move for both sides.

Impact - 10/10
Value for money - 5/10
TOTAL - 24/30
..................................

4. Mido (Zamalek to West Ham) Loan
When he wants to, Mido has shown he can be a decent Premier League striker. A bargain on the lowest wages in the top flight at £1,000 a week.
Ability - 7/10
Impact - 6/10
Value for money - 10/10
TOTAL - 23/30

5. Chris Smalling (Fulham to Man Utd) £10m
The biggest move of the window in terms of cash. Smalling, who was also wanted by Arsenal, has the potential to be Rio Ferdinand's long-term replacement.
Ability - 8/10
Impact - 7/10
Value for money - 7/10
TOTAL - 22/30

6. Maxi Rodriguez (Atletico Madrid to Liverpool) Free
Getting an established Argentina international for nothing cannot be sniffed at, especially at Anfield where any signing is a bonus right now.
Ability - 8/10
Impact - 6/10
Value for money - 8/10
TOTAL - 22/30

7. Adam Johnson (Middlesbrough to Manchester City) £7m
Winger Johnson is an England Under-21 international with talent and potential. Could shine at Eastlands if given a chance.
Ability - 7/10
Impact - 6/10
Value for money - 7/10
TOTAL - 20/30

8. Patrick Vieira (Inter Milan to Manchester City) Loan
Arsenal legend may not be at his best and he is on huge wages, but Vieira's desperation to make France's World Cup squad and experience will be an asset.
Ability - 7/10
Impact - 8/10
Value for money - 4/10
TOTAL - 19/30

9. Stefano Okaka (Roma to Fulham) Loan
Italian striker, 20, in a similar mould to Didier Drogba. Big, strong and skilful, he is well-suited for Premier League football.
Ability - 6/10
Impact - 6/10
Value for money - 6/10
TOTAL - 18/30

Former skipper received a sceptical welcome on his return but at least the Gooners won't have to see Philippe Senderos in an Arsenal shirt again this season.
Ability - 4/10
Impact - 5/10
Value for money - 7/10
TOTAL - 16/30
