Not guilty. Lloyd Banks was acquited of assault charges by an Ontario judge last week (June 15th).
The charges stem from an incident in which the G-Unit rapper and three of his cohorts allegedly beat and robbed promoter Chris Hines at Club NV in Brantford, Ontario.
As previously reported, Hines claims Banks and his three friends, Nicklas Sloane, Shawn McGee and Tyrell Cooper, held him hostage in his hotel room, assaulted him and robbed him. Banks and company were charged with forceful confinement, aggravated assault and robbery. Judge Michael Epstein dismissed the charges last week.
“Banks would like to thank his Canadian counsel, Patrick Ducharme, and the authorities in Ontario for doing ‘the right thing,” Banks’ United States lawyer, Scott Leemon, told AllHipHop.com. “After a careful and neutral evaluation of the facts, it is good to see that the system actually worked. With this finally behind him, Banks looks forward to coming back to Canada soon.”
Charges were also dropped against McGee and Cooper while Sloane pled guilty to assault and received a $2,500 fine.
