High School Commencement Speech
Monday afternoon, the president traveled to Michigan to deliver the commencement speech at Kalamazoo Central High School during their graduation ceremonies. The lucky high school beat out other competing schools to win this year’s Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge. Obama returned to D.C. afterward.
Tele-Town Hall
President Obama will take part in a national tele-town hall meeting on Tuesday held at the Holiday Park Multipurpose Senior Center in Wheaton, Md. During the meeting, Obama will talk about the Affordable Care Act with senior citizens as well as ways his administration will help fight scams and fraud aimed at seniors. Seniors at the center as well as seniors across the country can participate in the town hall meeting via telephone.
Healthy Kits
On Tuesday, the First Lady will host a Congressional Service Event with members of Congress and their spouses at the Kennedy Recreation Center. During the event, participants will pack Healthy Lifestyle Kits, which will include jump ropes along with healthy snacks for local children. Meeting with Palestinian Leader
Wednesday, Obama will meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The two leaders are set to discuss how the United States can help Israeli-Palestinian relations, and promote the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Deepwater Tragedy
The president has invited family members of the men who lost their lives in the BP Deepwater Horizon tragedy to the White House on Thursday. At that time he will offer his personal condolences. In total, 11 men died following the explosion of the oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico in April and 17 were injured.
White House Meetings
The President will hold meetings at the White House on Friday.
Anacostia High School Graduation
On Friday morning, Mrs. Obama will give the commencement address at D.C.’s Anacostia High School’s graduation ceremonies. She visited the school last year as part of her Women of Excellence event.
Department Visit
Friday afternoon, the First Lady will visit the Department of Labor to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Women’s Bureau. She will deliver remarks during the ceremony, praising the achievements of the bureau.
