A SPURNED weirdo who sent a girl hundreds of sick Facebook messages has been branded one of Britain's worst cyber-stalkers.
Jason Smith, 23, targeted Alexandra Scarlett in an 18-month online hate campaign after she rejected him. He sent the 20-year-old up to 40 messages a week - vowing to SLASH her face, SHOOT her dad and RAPE her mum. Smith had swapped numbers with Alexandra after they met in a club in November 2007, but she then turned him down.
He sent her threats on Facebook and MySpace so she changed her accounts, but he tracked her down. Smith created more than 40 profiles as she kept blocking him. Prosecutor Louise Brandon told Manchester Crown Court: "He threatened to kill her."
Smith, of Newall Green, Gtr Manchester, was arrested in March. In a statement Alexandra said: "I was petrified he might find me." A friend said: "There can be few more menacing cyber-stalkers."
Last month Ashleigh Hall, 17, was allegedly killed by Peter Chapman, 32, in Co Durham, after she met him online. Smith admitted harassment and got a 12-month suspended sentence and a lifetime restraining order.
