WENGER BLASTS NEW PREM RULE

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has slamed the Premier League's new rules on home-grown players — claiming it will weaken the English game.
From next season all Premier League clubs will be required to have eight home-grown players out of a squad of 25.

They do not necessarily have to be British but have trained for three years under the age of 21 in England or Wales.

Wenger, whose Gunners side is often criticised for having no English players in it, does not believe introducing such limits would improve the current state of the game.

He said: "I am not in favour of it and I said that many times.

"I feel that when you want to see the best players in the best league in the world, you have to be open.

"To accept competition — and we live for competition — it is not to accept artificial rules and that is why I am against it."
