Egypt Nobel Laureate ElBaradei Under House Arrest

CAIRO – Tens of thousands of anti-government protesters poured into the streets of Egypt Friday, stoning and confronting police who fired back with rubber bullets and tear gas in the most violent and chaotic scenes yet in the challenge to President Hosni Mubarak's 30-year rule. Even a Nobel Peace laureate was placed under house arrest after joining the outraged demonstrators.
Groups of thousands of protesters, some chanting "out, out, out," gathered at different venues across Cairo, a city of about 18 million people, some marching toward major squares and across scenic Nile bridges. Security officials said there were protests in at least 11 of the country's 28 provinces.
It was a major escalation in the movement that began on Tuesday to demand 82-year-old Mubarak's ouster and vent rage at years of government neglect of rampant poverty, unemployment and rising food prices. Security officials said protesters ransacked the headquarters of Mubarak's ruling party in the cities of Mansoura north of Cairo and Suez, east of the capital.
Some of the most serious violence Friday was in Suez, where protesters seized weapons stored in a police station and asked the policemen inside to leave the building before they burned it down. They also set ablaze about 20 police trucks parked nearby.
Internet and cell phone services, at least in Cairo, appeared to be largely cut off since overnight in the most extreme measure so far to try to hamper protesters form organizing. However, that did not prevent tens of thousands from flooding the streets, emboldened by the recent uprising in Tunisia — another North African Arab nation.
"It's time for this government to change," said Amal Ahmed, a 22-year-old protester. "I want a better future for me and my family when I get married."

Mandela, 92, Home from South African Hospital

JOHANNESBURG – Former South African President Nelson Mandela went home from the hospital Friday after suffering an acute respiratory infection. Officials said the 92-year-old was joking with his wife and nurses, and handling the difficulties of old age "with the greatest of grace."
Surgeon-General Vejaynand Ramlakan told reporters that the anti-apartheid icon would now receive care at home after about 48 hours in Johannesburg's Milpark Hospital.
"It comes to us this afternoon with great joy to hear that he's been discharged," grandson Mandla Mandela told reporters at a hospital news conference that included Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe. Soon afterward, a convoy of security vehicles and a military ambulance carrying Mandela left the hospital, reaching his nearby home in minutes.
A dearth of updates since Mandela was admitted Wednesday afternoon had led to speculation and concern about his condition. Journalists have been camped outside the hospital and outside his Johannesburg home. Officials said Friday that Mandela's office has received more than 10,000 messages of support and well wishes, including from President Barack Obama.
Deputy President Motlanthe, acting president while President Jacob Zuma is traveling abroad, said in retrospect communications should have been better.
"Madiba has received similar checkups in the past and it's never raised the same public panic it has now," Motlanthe said, explaining why officials had not been prepared. South Africans affectionately call the 92-year-old Madiba, his clan's name.
Ramlakan, the surgeon general, said Mandela was in stable condition and had not been on a respirator.
Mandela also had a respiratory infection eight years ago and contracted tuberculosis during the 27 years he spent in prison, Ramlakan said. He added Mandela takes medication for a chronic, unnamed condition, and needs help to walk.
"Despite all of this, his amazing positive attitude allows him to cope with the difficulties of old age with the greatest of grace," said Ramlakan, who is the South African army's top doctor. The army is charged with the care of former presidents in South Africa.
Ramlakan would not say whether Mandela's most recent infection was in the upper or lower regions of his respiratory tract. A lower tract infection could have signaled more serious problems than an upper respiratory problem.
"We are at the end of the day talking about somebody who is 92 years old," Ramlakan said. "When you are 92 years old, what is routine is very different from when you are 19."
Motlanthe said Mandela was joking with his wife and nurses before being released Friday.
Mandela was jailed for 27 years for his fight against apartheid. He became South Africa's first black president in 1994 and stepped down after serving one term in 1999. He largely retired from public life in 2004.
The public has seen only glimpses of him recently, such as in November, when his office released photos of a private meeting between Mandela and members of the U.S. and South African soccer teams. The teams had just played a match in his honor.
Mandela also appeared at the closing ceremony of the World Cup in July, waving to the crowd as he was driven in a small golf cart alongside his wife, Graca Machel.
Mandela's ex-wife, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, had visited him in the hospital Thursday but refused to comment on his condition when she attended a court hearing Friday.
Madikizela-Mandela appeared relaxed at the court, which postponed the hearing for a man accused of homicide and drunk driving in a June car crash that killed Mandela's great-granddaughter Zenani, 13, as she was headed home after a World Cup concert.
The Catholic Bishops of Southern Africa organization said in a statement Friday its members were praying for Mandela's speedy recovery.
Mandela "is an example of the virtues of a truly great and loving father, who cares for all near and dear to him," the bishops said.
"To the nation, he is a great and inspiring leader .... To the international community, he is a unique African and global statesman who rose above personal, tribal, race and party interests in order to lead the South African nation through a difficult transition from apartheid to democracy."
Mandela's African National Congress, the party that has governed South Africa since he led it to its first election victory in 1994, thanked his medical team in a statement Friday.
"We thank the entire South Africa community and the international community for their prayers and well wishes to Madiba for his speedily recovery," the ANC added.

Cory Gunz Wanted to Sign With Shady Records

video
Young Money has sure been good to Cory Gunz.
Even before officially signing with Lil Wayne’s camp, Cory raised his profile with a scene-stealing guest verse on an early version of Weezy’s “A Milli” in ’08. Gunz joining the YM ranks may have seemed like a foregone conclusion at the time, but the Bronx bomber was quietly hoping to sign with another superstar: Eminem.
“I always had great admiration for Eminem, and growing up, any of my close friends knew that if I had a choice when I was younger I would always say that I would sign to Shady or Aftermath,” Cory told BET.com. “At the end of the day, I really didn’t get a chance to get in front of Em and really let him hear any music or anything like that. But everything happens for a reason. I’m blessed to be here by choice of God. Honestly, I’m playing for one of the biggest teams. I’m like Lebron [James] right now and the Heat.”
In YM, Cory joins Weezy, Nicki Minaj, Drake and a flourishing Tyga at the forefront of one of hip-hop’s most talented rosters. Em, who signed 50 Cent through a joint venture with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath and released two platinum albums from his group D12, appears to be revamping his Shady Records. He recently announced the signing of lyrically minded supergroup Slaughterhouse and Alabama spitter Yelawolf.
No love lost here. Cory wouldn’t have it any other way. “He just signed Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf,” he said. ”I got a lot of respect for those artists too, on a colleague level. And on a skill level, they dope. It’s still love—I’m playing for the winning team and I’m happy to be here.”

Nicki Minaj Has a Special Place for Drake

The idea of Nicki Minaj and Drake as a couple doesn’t seem so far-fetched now does it?
Nick and Drake sent Twitter into a frenzy when they joked about getting married this past September. A union between the two Young Money siblings may have seemed absurd at the time, but seeing them tie the knot in the Harajuku Barbie’s “Moment 4 Life” video, which premiered last night, begs the question: Could Nicki and Drake truly be more than friends? Ms. Minaj recently explained the dynamic of her and Drizzy Drake’s chemistry.
“That energy’s amazing,” Minaj told MTV’s Rap Fix during an interview with Sway. “Out of everyone I’ve shot a video with, I was the most comfortable with him. I just really have a special place for him. And he just always makes me feel like it’s ok, just chill, relax, jokes. It’s never to the point where I’m like,  ‘Ok, I don’t wanna be here anymore, let’s wrap this video up.’”
It turns out the two have grown close over time, but not in a romantic way. Drake’s become more of a confidant.

“Obviously he’s kinda gotten a head start so he’s able to tell me a lot of things that I know and also I’m able to confide in him with things that I’m going through,” she explained. “We’re super, super cool and we have this crazy competition. It’s like a brother and sister competition that you don’t normally get with people. You never kinda have that camaraderie that I have with Wayne and Drake that I feel like, I’ma trying to body you on this track, but I love you to death.”

Kim kardashian's tears over nude photos

kim-kardashian-breaks-down Inconsolable ... Kim Kardashia

KIM Kardashian was seen in tears on her new reality show after a magazine used a naked shot of her as its front cover.

The American socialite wept about the photo in the latest episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York - before getting a drink thrown in her face in a bar brawl.

'Porn' cover ... the offending picture of Kim
Kim, 30, called her mum Kris Jenner and cried down the phone after seeing a preview of her nude shoot for the front cover of W magazine, which she described as "full on porn". She sobbed: "Oh my God, I'm more naked than I was in Playboy.
"I'm so mad right now. She promised I would be covered with artwork. You can see nipple.
"The whole concept was sold to me that nothing would be seen."
The offending cover - which showed Kim naked with just three strips of text protecting her modesty - accompanied pictures of her inside the publication, which showed her nude covered in paint.
But Kim, who was advised by her mum to keep her head held high over the cover, had changed her tune when the magazine came out and said she was "proud" of the snaps.

Meanwhile, Kim's day went from bad to worse later in the episode, which was filmed last October but aired in America last night. She got a drink chucked over her on a night out at Juliet's Supper Club by a girl who was upset her boyfriend had asked for a picture with Kim.
Kourtney's boyfriend Scott Disick then leapt to her defence, got involved in a fight and was subsequently thrown out of the club.
Last week Kim opened up about the "embarrassment and shame" she felt when a sex tape of her with her former lover, R&B singer Ray J, was leaked onto the internet.

Kanye West Denies Dissing Britney Spears

Kanye West isn't mad at Britney Spears. In fact, Yeezy isn't mad at anybody.
MSNBC reported that the Louis Vuitton Don was trying to start a Twitter war after "H.A.M.," his new single with Jay-Z, landed second behind Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me" on the charts. 'Ye even spoofed his Taylor Swift controversy in the tweet.
“Yo Britney, I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you be #1, but me and Jay-Z’s single is one of the best songs of all time! LOL," he tweeted.
Though West followed up by saying, "On a serious note I’m truly happy for @AvrilLavigne and @BritneySpears…… No hate in 2011," MSNBC accused him of trying to get a rise out of Spears. Kanye then took to Twitter to address MSNBC and denied reports that he recently purchased a watch with his face on it.
"Just saw that MSNBC said I tried to start a twitter war with Brittany," he wrote. "This s**t takes the air out my lungs sometimes from blogs to news reports… enough already!!! All I do is focus on my work. There’s a new lie everyday… a new media spin… I never got a watch with my face on it!!! A company tried to give that to me 9 yrs ago!

"When I said the comment about Brittney I was giving her props for being #1 not dissing her at all," he added. "But stop making it seem that my aim is to hurt or down people! That’s just not my style! As pop stars we’re all in this s**t together! We on the inside of the TV! If the media wants to make a story … just say I have atrocious spelling and terrible grammar."

Back in action ... Arnie

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER is returning to the big screen following his stint in office - and he's ready for bloodshed.

The actor - who was Governor of California from November 2003 to January 2011 - has revealed he's currently wading through scripts as he gears up for his action man comeback.
And he's on the brink signing up to a flick called With Wings Of Eagles, in which he'll play a trigger-happy soldier.
He said: "Currently I'm reading three scripts. One topic/script, which I considered a long time ago before governor, is delighting me particularly.
"In it I would play an older soldier, who gets the order at the ending of the war to kill a bunch of kids.
"But he doesn't do it and he gets them to safety at the risk of his life and it has all kind of adventure. This script is based on a true story."
However, Arnie, 63, admits he'll have to start choosing less physically challenging roles for the sake of his aging body.
He added: "In the future I have to adapt my roles to my age.
"CLINT EASTWOOD also has done it in the same way. Extreme fighting or shooting is not possible anymore.
"I want to be more encouraged as an actor and I believe that I can manage this challenge.
"I am like a sponge, which is absorbing all the knowledge and always be willing to learn all new things."

Plan B is up for working with Nicole, provided she doesn't go down the cheesy pop route.
He said: "I don't know what kind of direction she is going for with her new album.
"But anything that I do with her would be quite edgy and not straightforward pop."

7 billionaires' first jobs

Each of these wealthy people got started on the road to riches by performing entry-level tasks like bagging groceries, delivering newspapers or parking cars.

We're all familiar with these famous billionaires and how they amassed their fortunes -- we even dream of similarly making it big ourselves.
But did you ever wonder how rich, successful people got their starts? Here is a look at some famous billionaires' first jobs.

Warren Buffett

Net worth: $47 billion

First job: Newspaper delivery

Warren Buffett (pictured above) started working on his billion-dollar empire when he was a teenager. His first job, at age 13, was running a newspaper delivery business. Already a budding businessman with an eye on the bottom line, Buffett took a deduction that year for the use of his bicycle on his paper route.
He went on to start a pinball-machine business while in high school. Always looking for business opportunities, Buffett had $10,000 from his business ventures when he graduated from college.

Today, Buffett's net worth is estimated at $47 billion. It's no wonder that so many people today look to him for investment advice.

Oprah Winfrey

Net worth: $2.7 billion
First job: Grocery store clerk
Oprah Winfrey, who seems to get better and richer with everything she does, got her start in a menial job at the grocery store next to her father's barbershop in Nashville, Tenn.
She quickly made a move into broadcasting; at age 16 she was reading the news for the local radio station and on the road toward becoming a national media powerhouse.

Michael Bloomberg

Net worth: $18 billion
First job: Parking lot attendant
Michael Bloomberg was born to middle-class parents and worked his way through college, eventually earning a master's in business administration from Harvard University. After graduating he went to Wall Street
Bloomberg is now the mayor of New York and one of the nation's wealthiest citizens.

Bill Gates

Net worth: $53 billion
First job: Computer programmer
Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard to follow his passion for technology. His first job was as a computer programmer for TRW during his senior year in high school.

Gates is now one of the world's richest men, proof that being a computer geek can really pay off. In 2008, he stepped down from the daily running of Microsoft to focus on his philanthropic endeavors with wife, Melinda: TheBill & Melinda Gates Foundation works to improve education, fight hunger and develop vaccinations. (Microsoft publishes MSN Money.)

Steve Jobs

Net worth: $5.5 billion
First job: Summer hire at Hewlett-Packard
Steve Jobs was a high school student when he got a summer job at Silicon Valley pioneer Hewlett-Packard (HPQ, news), where he met Apple (AAPL, news) co-founder Steve Wozniak.
Despite Apple's success, the bulk of Jobs' fortune comes from the sale of digital animation company Pixar to Walt Disney (DIS, news) for $7.4 billion.

Giorgio Armani

Net worth: $5.3 billion
First job: Assistant photographer
Giorgio Armani grew up in a middle-class Italian family and had an early fascination for theater and fashion. He got his first job at Milan department store La Rinascente as an assistant photographer and was quickly promoted to the store's style office as a buyer.
Armani has since become the designer and fashion magnate we know today.

George Lucas

Net worth: $3 billion
First job: Teaching assistant
George Lucas made much of his fortune from the iconic "Star Wars" film series.
Lucas' start in film came early but humbly -- he worked as a teaching assistant for Navy students who were studying documentary filmmaking.
Lucas went on to pursue an apprenticeship with Francis Ford Coppola and eventually developed his own name as a Hollywood icon.

The bottom line

We all know that starting as a newspaper boy or parking lot attendant doesn't promise you'll be a billionaire. What is interesting about the careers of these billionaires is that they discovered their passion at an early age, proving that following your passion can pay, sometimes in the billions.

The rapper's latest extravagance, on top of his leather trousers, fur pillows and huge collection of designer goods, is an 18-carat gold watch, encrusted with diamonds which features his own FACE.
Now, we all know the MC was a huge ego on him, but a timepiece with an image of your own mug on it is taking things a bit far.
His ostentatious new toy cost a cool £135,000, took five months to create and was made specially by watchmakers Tiret.

THE RED carpet sizzled in the heat last night as Hollywood's biggest names made their way in to the Golden Globes ceremony in Los Angeles.

KELLY OSBOURNE chose a black strapless gown with a pink flash - shame all the designer fabric in the world couldn't hide those distinctly non-red carpet tattoos.
Oscar winner GABOUREY SIDIBE shunned the boring blacks and nod-inducing nudes for a pretty, pink and purple print dress.

JAKE GYLLENHAAL, ALEC BALDWIN and ERIC STOLTZ were among the early arrivals.
And host RICKY GERVAIS, arriving with long-term partner JANE FALLON, promised he would be "going to go close to the edge but not over it."
Joking about drinking at the ceremony he said: ""Beer is not considered an alcoholic drink in England."
Nominee JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT, in a white strapless gown, arrived with boyfriend ALEX BEH.

Ricky Gervais, Jane Fallon and Jennifer Love Hewitt arrive at the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, California, January 16, 2011.

Two stars whose style failed to wow were JULIA STILES and MICHELLE WILLIAMS.
Best Supporting Actress nominee Julia wore a heavy, black floor-length gown that would have suited an older woman better while Michelle looked frumpy rather than fabulous in this floral fright by Valentino.

Whitney working on eighth album

Will it be worth Whit? ... Whitney Houston
Will it be worth Whit? ... Whitney Houston

SOME people need to know when to call it a day - like WHITNEY HOUSTON for instance.

The singer is said to be working on her eighth studio album just a year after her disastrous comeback.
Last year she embarked on a world tour that was universally slammed.
Despite her last collection, I Look To You, going platinum - the album was a far cry from her old material.
The singer has earmarked June this year to return to the studio to lay down vocals for the new collection.
As well as a return to recording the 46-year-old is said to have a US television special still 'on the table', and has also apparently signed up for two movies.
Last year Biz man Carl Stroud went to see Whitney in Birmingham and here's part of what he had to say: "Time and substances haven't been kind to her once astonishing voice.
"The songbird herself seemed distracted - often losing her train of thought during rambling between-song chats with the audience."
He continued: "Classics I Will Always Love You, Saving All My Love For You and I Wanna Dance With Somebody were all aired, but sadly didn't come up to scratch.
"She found it impossible to hit the high notes on her greatest hit. The singer was even booed by disappointed fans.
"One jeered 'where are you', after she disappeared from the stage for three songs."
Doesn't bode well...
